In the winter of 2001 I wrote a simple cgi program that called the local unix system's 'fortune' program and displayed the output to a
web page. I made my own database file for 'fortune.' As I went to revive this code, I found a few interesting things. First, someone
now makes a Simpsons blackboard quote file for 'fortune.' Second -- my webhosting company actually has a pre-compiled 'Random Quote Generator' cgi
script. So much for old hacks!
I've also created a Search Plugin (for Firefox2 or IE7) that will let you add an SNPP (The Simpsons Archive) Search Box in your browser. You can find it here.
The list of opening lines came from SNPP.
