Yellow Fog Light Install

I don't ever use my foglights except when it's actually foggy, so I figured I would get a set of yellow bulbs to cut the fog a bit. I got the same bulbs that VWVortex member Syntrix did -- from European Autosport.

Note: The stock foglight bulbs on my GTI were 9006 regular headlight bulbs (55w). Some of the other MKV's use H11 bulbs. Check before buying!

Daylight shot of my stock foglights:

Start by removing the small philips screw near the inside of the grille:

If you reach into the hole where the screw was, you can pull the grill out. It pulls out from the inside (center) of the car outward, and hinges on the side close to the wheelwell.

Once the grille is out, you can see the three screws that hold the foglight assembly in place. They are located at 2 o'clock, 7 o'clock, and 10 o'clock.

Remove the screws.

Once you get the assembly out, you have to remove the plug from the bulb. There's a tab that needs to be pushed out before the assembly will release from the wire.

Here is a shot of the new bulb (left) and the old Sylvania bulb (right).

At this point, the assembly is out. Remove the stock bulb by turning it. Re-assembly involves the same steps as above, but in reverse.

Here is a shot of the new yellow (right) and old bulb installed (left). It's tough to see it in the picture, but it's a LOT yellower.

Here's a side shot of the fogs, you can see the yellow better here.
